Visa Appointment Cancellations for H-1B and H-4 Visa Applicants

09. Dec. 2025

This is a follow up article to our December 4th alert regarding Expanded Screening and Vetting for H-1B and H-4 Visa Applicants.

This week, ILG has received information from multiple sources indicating the State Department is cancelling and rescheduling visa appointments that were originally scheduled for December 15th or later. The cancellations are related to the Department of State’s plan to review the online presence of H-1B and H-4 visa applicants.

Many applicants are reporting that their visa appointments are being rescheduled for March 2026. Currently, the reported cancellations have occurred for visa appointments in India, but it is expected that other U.S. consular posts will be cancelling and rescheduling H-1B and H-4 visa appointments that were originally scheduled for December 15th and later globally.

Visa appointment cancellations around the holidays are particularly disruptive given many people have finalized international travel plans around this time of the year.  Visa applicants should take this evolving situation into consideration and reconsider traveling outside of the U.S.

ILG will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your ILG attorney or reach our firm at .
