Do employees who are U.S. citizens need a visa to travel internationally for business?

In many cases, U.S. travelers do not require a visa to enter a country for tourism or business trips less than 90 days. For instance, U.S. travelers may enter the Schengen Area (which consists of 26 European countries) for up to 90 days without applying for a visa. Additionally countries who participate in the Visa Waiver Program must permit U.S. citizens to enter visa free for no more than 90 days.
