As of April 9, 2012, USCIS has received the following number of H-1Bs that count against the annual H-1B cap:
|Advanced US degree:||8,200|
The "regular" H-1B cap is 65,000 per year and the advanced US degree cap is
20,000 per year.
Although still early (the filing "season" began less than 2 weeks ago), it appears the rate of filing is a lot quicker compared to last year. The rate of filing after the first week is comparable to the number of use after the first month last year.
Last year, the H-1B cap was reached after more than 7 months, on 11/22/11. In the year before that, the cap was reached after more than 9 months, on 1/26/11.
ILG will continue to provide updates as they become available.
