Working with the largest immigration law firm in the country in the late 1990s during the height of the dotcom boom, founder Clifton Wu represented high-profile clients that were experiencing unprecedented international expansion and growth due to the new global marketplace. However, the increase in volume caused a decline in personal client relationships, which was contrary to the work ethos he envisioned.

On September 1, 2001, Clifton joined forces with respected solo practitioner Gloria Lin to form a new firm that leveraged powerful corporate relationships and world-class customer service. The events of September 11th, less than two weeks after the grand opening, immediately changed the landscape of immigration law, but given the experience of its practitioners, ILG successfully navigated these changes and found solutions to complex corporate immigration matters. The firm grew its client base immensely during that period and added experienced attorneys Ann Chau and Curt Bui to the team.
