The Department of Labor is transitioning to a new PERM processing contractor - a change that will result in faster case processing but more PERM audits and more use of the supervised recruitment process. Besides faster processing of non-audit cases, the change will further ensure program compliance.

Additionally, DOL announced that a new version of the PERM application, Form ETA 9089, will be available in the near future.

DOL officials also noted that the PERM backlog was reduced significantly in Fiscal Year 2010. As of September 30, non-audited cases are being approved in approximately 2 months. Audited cases are still taking considerably longer (approximately 26 months).
