PERM Stats: FY2015

03. Aug. 2015

The DOL recently released PERM statistics through the first three quarters of FY 2015, which began on October 1, 2014.  Unfortunately, the most notable statistic is the number of denials, which increased from 1,029 in Q1 and 1,015 in Q2 to 2,151 in Q3 (April through June 2015).

DOL’s report does not offer information regarding the reason for the spike in denials, but U.S. immigration lawyers are reporting denials for cases handled the same way as those that were consistently approved in the past.  DOL’s modus operandi of “guidance by denial” continues.

Other notable statistics:

  • Top Occupation: Computer and Mathematical – 59% of all PERMs filed;
  • Top State: California positions - 24% of PERMs filed;
  • Top Visa Classification: H1B holders - 80% of all beneficiaries; and
  • Top Country of Citizenship: India nationals - 60% of all beneficiaries.
