USCIS Temporarily Suspends Premium Processing for I-140 Petitions in July

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that it will impose a temporary suspension of premium processing services for all I-140 petitions from July 2, 2007 to August 1, 2007. The program is being suspended because USCIS expects a surge of I-140 filings beginning on July 2, when immigrant visa priority dates become current for nearly all employment-based categories. The agency anticipates that, due to the high volume of filings, it will be unable to meet the 15-day processing goal of the service.

USCIS could extend the suspension beyond August 1st if it is not confident that it can deliver on the 15-day processing time.
