Significant Improvement in Immigrant Visa Availability for June 2007

May 14, 2007

The just released June Visa Bulletin shows that the priority date (PD) cut-off for India-born individuals in the EB-2 category advanced from 01/08/03 to 04/01/04, while the EB-3 category PD cut-off advanced from 05/08/01 to 06/01/03.

For foreign nationals born in China, the EB-2 PD cut-off advanced from 04/22/05 to 01/01/06, while the EB-3 PD cut-off advanced from 08/01/02 to 06/01/03.

Immigration Law Group will be reviewing client files to identify cases that are now eligible for I-485 due to the priority date advancement.

The Department of State, which issues the monthly visa bulletins, commented that "the current level of demand in many of the Employment-based categories has been much lower than anticipated. As a result, the June cut-off dates have been advanced significantly in an effort to maximize number use under the annual numerical limits. At this time it appears likely that there will be additional advances during the coming months."

The Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs offers the monthly "Visa Bulletin" on the web. The web address to access the Bulletin is: http://travel.state.gov. From the home page, select the "Visa Bulletin," which is under the category of "Permanent Immigrants to the U.S."

To be placed on the Department of State's E-mail subscription list for the Visa Bulletin, send an E-mail to: listserv@calist.state.gov.
