USCIS Launches Online Change of Address Service

January 18, 2007

USCIS launched a web-based service that allows foreign nationals to update their address with USCIS. It can be found on the USCIS website at: https://egov.immigration.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa

This online change of address tool can allow customers to accomplish two different purposes at the same time:

1. For almost all non-U.S. citizens present in the U.S. for more than 29 days, to comply with the legal requirement to notify DHS of any change of address (currently using Form AR-11, Alien's Change of Address Card).

2. For individual customers who have pending applications and/or petitions with USCIS to change the address where USCIS should notify them of actions on their case.

Those that choose to use this online electronic change of address notification should not mail in a Form AR-11. On the other hand, those that choose not to use the online tool and instead choose to mail in a paper Form AR-11 need to understand that doing so will not update his/her address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS.

It is not possible at this time to use this site to update attorneys' addresses, though USCIS hopes to add such a component some time in the future.

Form AR-11 can now be filed electronically at: https://egov.immigration.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa.cr.Residence. Again, individuals with a pending immigration case should also notify USCIS of any change of address to ensure that they receive notices or decisions related to their case in a timely manner. Those individuals with pending Naturalization applications should continue to contact USCIS by telephone to report their change of address.
