Visa Bulletin for May 2006 Continues to Show Forward Movement
April 10, 2006
The just released May Visa Bulletin shows that the priority date
(PD) for India-born individuals in the EB-2 category went from 07/01/02
to 01/01/03, while the EB-3 category PD advanced much more slowly
from 02/01/01 to 03/01/01. The EB-1 category for Indian-born nationals
advanced from 01/01/05 to 07/01/05.
For foreign nationals born in China, the EB-2 PD advanced from
01/01/03 to 01/01/04, while the EB-3 PD stayed at 05/01/01. The
EB-1 PD went from 01/01/04 to 07/01/04.
The Department of State, which issues the monthly visa bulletins,
commented that the significant amount of forward movement in the
China-mainland born and India Employment First and Second preference
cut-off dates during recent months has been done in an effort to
generate demand for numbers. It cannot be assumed that these cut-off
dates will continue to advance at this pace during the remainder
of the fiscal year. It remains to be seen how heavy the demand for
visa numbers by applicants from those areas will be in the coming
months.
