New Online Features To Improve Customer Service At USCIS

As part of USCIS's commitment to improve customer service, USCIS announces the launch of new web features designed to provide users better access to their case information. These enhancements include the following:

  • Online Inquiry Tool for Select Forms: Customers will now be able to submit an electronic inquiry directly to a USCIS Field Office or Service Center to request case status information if their Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card (Form I-90) or Application for Naturalization (Form N-400) is outside the posted processing times. They no longer have to make an InfoPass Appointment or call the National Customer Service number to get further information on their case. Additionally, once the electronic inquiry is received, USCIS will respond within 15-days instead of the normal 30 day processing time in the past. This feature may be expanded to include other applications and petitions in the future.

  • E-mail Notification in Spanish: Customers can now elect to receive messages in English or Spanish. All messages were only available in English in the past.

  • Specific Adjudication Process Steps by Form Type on My Case Status: When customers check their case status online, the process steps they see will now be specific to the petition or application they submitted. In the past, it was the same generic process steps for all different types of petitions and applications.

  • Change of Address Online in Spanish: Customers can now elect to change their address online in Spanish or English. This service was only available in English in the past.
