New Fees for Visa Waiver Program Travelers

New Fees for Visa Waiver Program Travelers

Individuals entering the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) on or after September 8, 2010 will need to pay a new fee of US$14.00 when they submit an application for permission to travel through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). ESTA is an electronic travel authorization that all nationals of VWP countries must obtain prior to travel to the United States under the VWP. This travel authorization has been mandatory since January 12, 2009.

ESTA applications can be submitted at any time prior to travel to the United States under the VWP. If an ESTA application is denied, the foreign national must apply for a B-1/B-2 visitor visa at a U.S. Consulate abroad in order to be able to travel to the US for business or pleasure.
