United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that as of April 22nd, it received approximately 16,025 H-1B petitions against the annual cap of 65,000. USCIS also confirmed that it received 6,739 petitions against the additional 20,000 H-1Bs set aside annually for candidates with either a Master's or Ph.D. from a U.S. university.
The latest count indicates that approximately 2,425 H1Bs and 939 advanced degree H-1Bs were filed in the latest week (between April 15th and 22nd). This pace of filing suggests that "new" H-1Bs will continue to be available for some time. Employers should continue to contact ILG when they are ready to proceed with H-1B filings.
