Employment-Based Green Cards Unavailable Until October 1st
September 15, 2011

The State Department just confirmed that all available employment-based immigrant visas (green cards) for this fiscal year, which ends on September 30th, has been used up.

As such, USCIS will temporarily stop approving employment-based I-485 applications until October 1st, when next year’s visa quota becomes available.  Applicants who are “current” per the September Visa Bulletin can still submit I-485s.

Starting October 1st, USCIS will resume approving I-485s with priority dates that are current according to the October Visa Bulletin.
