Bay Area CBP Officers No Longer Stamping Passports
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently announced that, as of October 1, 2022, CBP officers at airports in the San Francisco Area Port jurisdiction, including SFO, SJC, and OAK, will no longer be stamping passports as a matter of course. This follows other ports of entry that are implementing a "stampless entry" pilot program.
During the pilot program, CBP will still stamp passports for travelers who affirmatively ask for a passport stamp. Otherwise, the electronic I-94, which can be downloaded here will be the sole record of admission.
Immigration Law Group recommends that all clients download and send us a copy of their I-94 record after each entry into the U.S. so that we may update our database and accurately monitor their status.
