$10 Fee Announced for H-1B Preregistration

10. Sep. 2019

This is a follow up to our 1/30/19 article on this topic.

USCIS has announced proposed rules that would require petitioners seeking to file H-1B cap-subject petitions to pay a $10 fee for each beneficiary/case they register with USCIS.

As previously announced, USCIS has established a new rule requiring petitioners seeking to file H-1B cap-subject petitions, including those eligible for the advanced degree exemption, to first electronically register with USCIS during a designated registration period.  The random-selection process will be conducted using the registration information and H-1B petitioners will only submit cap-subject H-1B petitions for the selected beneficiaries.

The registration process was not finalized and tested in time for the FY 2020 cap season (cases filed April 2019), but is expected to be implemented for the FY 2021 cap season (for cases filed April 2020).
